diaryland!

so it's been awhile..

You know what's weird? Having a year off of school. Just the thought of having 12 whole months of not attending one class, not writing one fucking paper, not one exam.. It's almost frightening. Almost.

Instead, I'll be working (a likely crappy job) to save up money until November. At home. In a crappy city.

But! BUT!

After that, I'll head to India in December for a month and attend TWO of my cousins' weddings! Then, I'm going to do a working holiday in Australia from January-April. I've wanted to go there since I travelled Europe, so I'm going to go. I'm thinking of doing a contiki tour or something in January to get a feel for the place and meet others who may be doing the same thing I am. As much as I fear the idea of Contiki, I heard public transport there is kind of bad and I know it's huge, so travelling takes ages. Also, I found it's much easier to meet people on these tours (well, the one I went on in Ireland) than it is when travelling on your own. If I was going with a friend, I wouldn't give a fuck - I'd just do it with buses, independently - but I'm not. So. Anyway, after doing some research, I think I'll like Melbourne the best and work there for three months before going home -- it seems the most artsy and the most "me." If anyone reading this (I know very few people read this now, but hey, I'll take a shot at it) is from Australia, do you have an opinion on Melbourne? Is it pretentious? I know Sydney's more metropolitan, but there's something about descriptions of Melbourne that grab me..

So, yes. After much whining & must frustration after this, I know what I'll be doing. For another year, at least. In the meantime, I can decide what I really want to do on a more permanent basis. (I don't think I'll accept any MA offers if I get them because I'm unsure of whether or not I want to go on for a PhD and make academia my career - and with something like gender studies, ya kinda have to.)
